David Warner and Steve Smith were handed a one-year ban by Cricket Australia for their involvement in the ball-tampering fiasco during the Newlands Test against South Africa
Australian cricketer Steve Smith is in absolute disarray after being punished severely for the ball tampering incident against South Africa. One of the major airlines in New Zealand, ANZ posted a video on their official Twitter handle where they offered the trio to visit New Zealand to watch the Test match against England at Christchurch.
Smith was banned from representing Australia for a year after he confessed to a plot to illegally alter the condition of the ball during a test match against South Africa in Cape Town.
As the trio return home in disgrace, awaiting the probe from an outraged Australian public, Air NZ have opened their arms to Smith, as well as Warner and Bancroft. The carrier also invited Smith and his partners in crime Warner and Bancroft to New Zealand to "escape the heat back home'".
England were bowled out for 58 in Auckland last Thursday and the Black Caps then won the first of two tests between the two nations by an innings and 49 runs.
Bancroft was caught on television cameras appearing to rub a yellow object on the ball, and later said: "I was in the wrong place at the wrong time".
