Amazon the online retail giant is recalling its portable battery chargers because of the potential for fire hazard

"Amazon received 53 reports of the power banks overheating in the USA, including one report of chemical burns due to contact with battery acid and four reports of property damage, including fire and smoke damage", the CPSC said in a recall notice.

The company apparently initiated the recall after it received 53 reports of the power banks overheating in the US, the website reports. Six models of power bank sold between 2014 and 2017 have been recalled after users in America complained that the devices get unusually hot. The recalled products have one of the following product ID numbers: B00LRK8EVO, B00LRK8HJ8, B00LRK8I7O, B00LRK8IV0, B00LRK8JDC or B00ZQ4JQAA. You shouldn't just mail the power bank back to Amazon in a box; judging by how the recall of Samsung's infamous Galaxy Note 7 went, you'll need to ship any potentially defective devices back in a special fireproof box. While the models bear the label of Amazon, the product documentation suggests that they were developed in China by Guoguang Electric Company Ltd.

The decision came after 53 reports were recorded of the hazard indicating one chemical burn and four incidents of property damage due to fire and smoke.
