Alexa's new Follow-Up Mode can handle back-to-back requests
The new feature is called Follow-Up Mode, and it has to be enabled by users before it can be used.
The basic idea is simple, and a little bit obvious in hindsight. If you have anything else to ask her, you can just ask it without needing to say her name first.
"For example, if she detects that speech was background noise or that the intent of the speech was not clear", Amazon explained in a customer service page for Alexa. The company also says the latter phrase is "less likely to have false positives", or in other words the Alexa software is likely to mistake common words and phrases that sound similar to the one that makes Alexa start laughing.
