Authorities in Mexico issued an amber alert late Thursday night for a missing Lehigh Valley teenager who is believed to have run off with a 45-year-old family friend.

According to authorities, Amy apparently tampered with school documents and listed Esterly on the list of approved people to check her out of school.

Esterly's wife told authorities that he had withdrawn $4,000 from her bank account and taken personal documents.

Amber Alert Mexico has issued a bulletin that Amy Yu and Kevin Esterly, missing from Allentown since March 5, may be traveling through Mexico.

"From the investigations it appears that she with traveling in national territory" with Esterly, the Mexican alert says.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Miu Yu, the mother of Amy, called school officials at Lehigh Valley Academy Charter School in Hanover Township, Northampton County, to inquire about Esterly illegally checking her child out of school on Monday, but the teen was already gone. "It is believed that the integrity of the teenager is in danger and she may be a victim of crime". Police also filed a warrant for Esterly's arrest on a charge of interfering with the custody of a child.

David Esterly and Amy Yu have been missing since February 9. Authorities said the pair struck up a romantic relationship at one point but 16 is the age of consent in Pennsylvania.

Amy's mother Mui Luu, who did not want to show her face on camera, says she "feels betrayed".

"I want to tell her, 'Amy, can you come back to me? I love you. I just hope you come back". A short time earlier, Yu's mother dropped her off at a bus stop, police said.
