2019 Audi A6 Interior Dashboard
Despite being slightly larger than the outgoing auto, the A6 is lighter than ever before thanks to an aluminium-steel construction that's also increased body rigidity.
The engine specs for the A6 include four engine options which include a V6 3.0-litre TFSI petrol and three types of diesel - a 2.0-litre TDI and a 3.0-litre TDI in two states of tune. All of this gets the A6 from zero to 62 miles per hour in 5.1 seconds. While the former will develop around 250 HP the latter is slated to have 340 HP and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque available. While the 3.0 TDI is paired with an eight-speed tiptronic, the 3.0 TFSI is coupled as standard with a seven-speed S tronic. Both units have a limited top speed of 155mph and come with quattro all-wheel drive. The 3-litre diesel engine manages 40.6mpg and 150g/km CO2. And, significantly, mild hybrid technology comes standard regardless of fuel type.
In certain variants the vehicle will also get dynamic all-wheel steering. It means it can adapt to a driver's routines and respond to events set in their diary, such as driving to a meeting or getting to their children's school for parents' evening.
The Audi A6 will arrive in the European market in the summer of 2018.
The new A6 is 7mm longer, 12mm wider and 2mm taller than the model it replaces and offers enhanced head, should and leg room. The boot capacity remains the same at 530 litres, the boot lid can now be opened in using a swipe of the foot. The auto gets a new design for the 21-inch alloy wheels shod with 255/35 section tyres.
On the interior, the A6 gets a new console which is similar to the A7. There is also an option for a 10.1-inch upper screen.

Audi's optional parking pilot and the garage pilot allow the auto to autonomously navigate into parking spaces or garages. Using the myAudi app, owners of the new A6 can access the brand's digital services via a smartphone. Up to up to five radar sensors, five cameras, twelve ultrasonic sensors as well as a laser scanner depending on the options the customer chooses. Audi claims more intuition in usage. An optional panoramic glass sunroof is also available, as is a heated windshield. The optional air quality package improves the air with two subtle fragrances, an ionizer and an effective pollutant filter. You might have an easier time noticing the new front end and singleframe grille that's very closely related to the A7s, or the new and sharp body crease that's over the wheels close to the beltline. LED headlights and daytime running lights are in keeping with the technology rich look that Audi prides itself for. With a face that's cribbed completely from its hatch-shaped sibling, the new A6 is identifiable by its hindquarters.
The new A6 becomes the next beneficiary of Audi's latest design language after the A7 Sportback and A8. The concept auto that previewed the trio's look was the Prologue.
The Level 3 autonomous tech isn't quite available in the United Kingdom, just as Chris Chilton found out in his drive of the A7 Sportback, but the kit is there for when the United Kingdom eventually says yes to Level 3 autonomy being used on public roads. Turns out, the 2019 A6 is indeed a whole new auto which is no bad thing considering the A6 it replaces has been with us since 2011, the oldest design in Audi's current roster.
With an outside length of just 4.94 meters, the 2018 Audi A6 offers nearly the same length as the BMW G30 5 Series, with a wheelbase of around 2.92 meters but five centimeters shorter than its counterpart from Munich.
