'A Wrinkle in Time' director Ava DuVernay brings classic novel to big screen

"A Wrinkle in Time" is centered around Meg (Reid), a teenage girl struggling with her identity, whose scientist father went missing while attempting to travel across the universe.
Storm was excited to tell us about their first encounter.
A Wrinkle in Time is a massive milestone for DuVernay and Black women in film as the director is the first Black woman to direct a film with a budget bigger than $100 million. "She's not a Jedi, she's not a superhero, she's just a regular girl with glasses, but she's very special inside, she just doesn't know it yet - and I could relate to that". To watch Meg Murry climb out of her insecurities as L'Engle designed her escape route in the book would be some real movie magic.
Oprah, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling play what some might say are Meg's guides along the adventure. "She always said that the book was nearly an aspirational hymn for the world she wanted to live in". Who, Mrs. Which and Mrs. Whatsit suggest, then the opposite of an eternity of experience is perhaps the instant it takes Meg to anger.

Just the fact that we get to be here doing this, it's a good thing.
Deco gave her a magic wand and asked what type of superpower she'd want in real life. "It's not a huge part, but it's an important part because the audience has to have an emotional connection to the character and believe in the relationship he has with Meg, which drives the film emotionally". With that realization, "she just taps into her superpowers to be able to save her dad, her brother and save the world".
"Mr. Murry is a kind of frenetic, obsessed, ambitious doctor who really wants to do the right thing for his family- and for mankind-which he believes is going out into the universe to find something that has never been found before", says Whitaker. The film officially hits theaters on Friday, March 9 from Disney, the parent company of ABC News.
