Now, Robinson appears to be garnering interest from a pair of NFC North rivals in the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears.
At this point, it's a longshot for the Kansas City Chiefs, but it's nonetheless nice to see the franchise's name reportedly in the mix for the services of free agent wide receiver Sammy Watkins. Let the speculation begin. A lot of teams are interested in Sammy Watkins. The Packers would have to dive in head first to sign Robinson once the market opens. According to Spotrac, the Packers now have $38.38 million of the cap committed to their receivers, far and away a league-high.
Robinson is going to become one of the league's highest paid wide receivers. For the Packers to make room, they would likely need to cut or restructure one of their current deals. The team would nearly certainly then have to release Jordy Nelson or Randall Cobb.
Another interesting tidbit: the Packers passed on Robinson to instead draft Adams, something that people incessantly pointed out when Adams was struggling.
Watkins is the more appealing of the two.
