Trump attends 'extraordinary life' Billy Graham's ceremony
Graham showed us how you can still rise to the top and be respected by remaining humble. There are no official rules that dictate who can lie in state or who can lie in honor, except that customarily only government officials can lie in state, versus private citizens who can lie in honor.
As Graham's casket sat under the natural light of the ornate Rotunda, its four doorways featuring somber black bunting, some parts of the scene seemed fitting.

The Library was first opened in 2007 and Billy Graham attended the dedication ceremony alongside former Presidents Carter, Clinton and Bush. Until then, perhaps the most influential leader in the current political climate influencing the values of the electorate may be the president himself. Reverend Graham preached the gospel to more than 200 million people during his more than 400 Crusades and rallies in more than 185 countries and territories.

Mr Graham is only the fourth private person to lie in honour since 1998.

Graham was wildly popular in his heyday, selling out Yankee Stadium, crowding more than 100,000 people into Times Square and filling Madison Square Garden more than 100 times - to cite only his 1950s appearances in New York City, hardly a hotbed of religiosity. Maybe as importantly, is Trump the one who can encourage that?

He told reporters that nearly immediately upon hearing of Graham's death he, President Trump, McConnell and Rep. Patrick McHenry, who represents the Graham family's district, agreed it would happen.
But there were other aspects of Graham lying in the Capitol that were odd. Congressional leaders and Cabinet members slowly filed out, too.

Graham's legacy is not as a maverick or a trailblazer.

Mr Graham is lying in honour before a funeral on Friday near his home in Charlotte, North Carolina.
But it was that relationship that drove Graham to become less - publicly, at least - politically active.
"That really affected and upset Graham".

During his Wednesday benediction, Senate Chaplain Barry Black said another entity "used" Graham: God, to spread religious and moral messages around the world.
Evangelicals also have shifted their political strategies in ways that may limit their popularity among younger Americans. One such incident came when Graham in the early 1990s said he thought AIDS was a punishment from God.
"I had been preparing this choir for Cliff Barrows the whole time", Ichter said.
Since that dream was now gone, I made a decision to at least travel to Black Mountain, N.C., and pay my last respects as his motorcade passed by on his journey to Charlotte. In theory, this could change if the president lent his ear to a faith leader who has consistently let bipartisanship be a guiding principle.
