Grandfather of debutant England global Lewis Cook, Trevor Burlingham smiled to the bank Tuesday after a bet he placed four years ago yielded a whooping N8.7million about £17,000.

As a grandfather you'd be over the moon to see your grandson make his global debut at the tender age of just 21.

However, the now-Bournemouth star failed to feature on the hallowed Wembley turf.

When the bet was placed, Cook was just 18-years-old and on the fringes of the Leeds United first-team squad.

Lewis Cook made his England debut in the 1-1 draw against Italy on Tuesday and netted his grandfather £17,000.

Ronda Rousey and Mike Golic have painfully awkward interview
He's always in shape, and I would bet WWE could make a call today and he'd be ready for WrestleMania in two weeks. The problem with Cass - and Rusev - is that Shane's role in the match was probably to get beat up.

Burlingham had in 2014 placed a £500 bet that his grandson Lewis Cook will earn a senior Three Lions cap before turning 26.

Cook had been called up to the squad by Gareth Southgate in November for an worldwide friendly with Brazil, however he did not receive any playing time much to the disappointment of Burlingham.

But after coming on as a 71st minute substitute to replace Jesse Lingard at the same stadium, Cook's grandfather pocketed the mammoth sum.

Cook also became the first ever player from the Cherries to represent the Three Lions, bringing pride to his club as well as his family.

Bookmaker William Hill said it was their biggest payout of its type since Harry Wilson secured his grandfather a £125,000 win for making his Wales debut in 2013.
