Brabham BT62 Clears Its Throat In Preview Clip
Perhaps more exciting than the name is the way the auto sounds. The company released a sound clip that can be heard in the embedded video above. Although not at all revealing, it does have a scent of a naturally aspirated V8.
The engine will, says Brabham, continue the tradition of the first of its cars to win Formula 1, the BT7, or the BT19, the first auto bearing its driver's name to win a World Championship.
Backing up this approach, favoured by other vehicle maker's like McLaren, is recent reports that the Brabham brand made an approach to take over the Force India F1 team, although, following the launch of the Force India's 2018 auto, that now seems increasingly unlikely.
Managing director David Brabham - the 52-year-old youngest son of three-time F1 champion Sir Jack Brabham, said: 'I am thrilled to announce Brabham BT62 as the name of Brabham Automotive's first project. The race driver and racing vehicle manufacturer made history in 1966 when he managed to become the first and only driver to have won Formula One while behind the wheel of his race auto.

Last month, racing driver David Brabham, son of successful racer Jack Brabham, announced that he had some big plans for his family name, including returning it to an F1 team and starting a road auto company.
As revealed by Autocar previous year, a Brabham racing re-entry that followed the launch of a auto brand would mirror a strategy employed by McLaren Automotive.
A Brabham spokesman refrained from commenting on the idea of a return to racing, stating that the auto company has been "continually approached on various projects" and that it "will reveal more about the [automotive] project and its intentions shortly".
