By California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation [Public domain], via Wikimedia CommonsA Kern County Superior Court commissioner ruled Monday that a man who said he is a grandson of Charles Manson has the rights to the mass murderer's remains.

According to the report, Freeman said he had gotten to know his long-lost grandfather over the last eight years of his life and deemed the killer a "kind, giving person".

This legal fight over the cult leader's remains "foreshadows what lies ahead as the same competing camps wrestle for control of the estate", the wire service adds.

It was also ambiguous about what would be done with Manson's body other than for Channels to use his judgment.

Freeman told CNN he knew he was Manson's grandson at an early age in OH but never talked about it and was discouraged from discussing it inside his family.

Federer and 10th seed Djokovic both came into the tournament seeking to become the first six-time victor of the event. His backhand, traditionally his most consistent and game-breaking weapon, bled errors-32 in all.

A purported son of Manson, Michael Brunner, objected to Freeman's claim. "No sufficient probative evidence was provided to this court to refute Freeman's claim", she said in a court ruling.

Jason Freeman, a former professional mixed martial arts fighter and the son of Manson's offspring with his first wife, can now retrieve the body and choose to either bury or cremate it.

Manson was convicted of seven counts of first-degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder in the deaths of Tate, the La Biancas and four other people at the Tate residence - coffee heiress Abigail Ann Folger, photographer Wojciech Frykowski, hairdresser Jay Sebring and Steven Earl Parent, who was shot and killed in his vehicle on his way to visit an acquaintance who lived in a separate rented guest house on the Tate property.

Although some raised question about whether Freeman was really Manson's grandson, Knight determined he was "the surviving competent adult next of kin".

Another purported son, Matthew Lentz, who claims he was fathered by Manson during a Wisconsin orgy, supported Brunner's petition. "He would never hurt a human with a baby inside of them", said Freeman.

Some adversaries have suggested others want to profit off the death by selling morbid photos of the corpse to tabloid publications.

Freeman's attorney, Dale Kiken, told the AP that he expects Manson's ashes to be disseminated over a body of water. After Knight's ruling, Freeman says he intends that his grandfather's body will be cremated and his ashes will be scattered in a private ceremony.
