Injured man dies as driver dumps him on road for defecating inside ambulance
The unidentified man succumbed to his injuries at the Thrissur Medical College hospital where he was admitted after he met with an accident in Palakkad in Kerala on March 20.
He was referred from the Palakkad district hospital to the Medical College hospital as his condition became critical.
An ambulance driver from Palakkad, Kerala who allegedly lowered a severely-injured accident victim upside down from the stretcher has caused an uproar in the state.
According to India Today, after the accident, the man was rushed to a private hospital. From there, he was shifted to the Palakkad district hospital, and on Friday night, he was moved to Thrissur for better care. One end of the stretcher was inside the ambulance while the other end on the floor.

The video of the entire incident recorded by a bystander shows the old man lying inclined upside down on a stretcher with one end still inside the ambulance. The driver, who works for a private ambulance service, was reportedly angered over the patient vomiting and defecating in the vehicle. He will be arrested soon, according to the Medical College police. Since the victim is not in a position to move all by himself the driver left him lying on the stretcher upside down as he went to inform the hospital staff. Due to this, patient slide down the stretcher and also hit the ground.
Though he was later seated on a wheelchair by hospital staff he could not survive and died on Saturday, DC reports. The number of the van driven by the errant driver has been noted and a case has been registered against him under IPC section 336, which deals with endangering life or personal safety of others.
The police on Monday said the deceased was yet to be identified.
