Stephen Jones Had a Lot to Say About the Cowboys' Defensive Backs

Several owners are said to believe that Jones has crossed an unspoken boundary by threatening his colleagues in relation to his attempts to stall Goodell's contract talks.

An Outside The Lines report quoted Jones telling Goodell, "I'm going to come after you with everything I have".

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is set to fine Cowboys owner Jerry Jones for "millions of dollars" in the coming weeks over his attempts to block the commissioner's contract talks and his defense of Ezekiel Elliott a year ago, according to The New York Times.

Elliott certainly has the talent to put together a Hall of Fame-worthy career, it just a matter of him getting better with his decision making off the field. Elliott was never charged with a crime, and fought the allegations and succeeding suspension in court for months, but ultimately was forced to sit out for the six games. The Cowboys have voiced concerns about his off-field in the past, but now are expressing their trust in the star running back to stay out of trouble.

"I have been reaching out to the Smithsonian since 2002", says team director Kelli Finglass.

The situation escalated in November when Jones threatened to sue the NFL and the league's compensation committee over the issue, forcing the league to pay its lawyers to address every legal threat the Cowboys' owner made.

Jones eventually backed down on his threats of a lawsuit but during a league meeting in December, he was criticized for his behavior by other owners.

The news comes after it was announced on Monday that the National Football League will order Jones to pay more than US$2 million in legal fees for his battle against commissioner Roger Goodell over the renewal of Goodell's contract.

Unsurprisingly, the effervescent Cowboys owner will contest paying the $2 million fine. It is only that, at least in theory, if you want to stretch it to be it.
