Supporters of Congress celebrate in Ludhiana as the party clean sweeps municipal corporation polls on Tuesday
Congress has won 62 wards out of 95 wards in Ludhiana Municipal Corporation election results announced on Tuesday. 11 wards and BJP was pushed to third sport with 10 seats.
For the first time AAP which contested 31 seats opened its account when its one woman candidate was declared elected from ward no-11. Lok Insaf Party and AAP alliance could not even reach the double digit mark.
Water and sanitation along with infrastructure are key issues for people in the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation election.
Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria of the SAD is the current Mayor of Ludhiana. These elections come two months after polls were held for Amritsar, Patiala and Jalandhar Municipal Corporations.
The election for Ludhiana MC was held on February 24.

The Congress, which came to power in Punjab previous year, has since won the municipal elections in Amritsar, Jalandhar and Patiala in December.
