Corey Brewer signing pushes Thunder luxury tax bill above $25 million
Coach Luke Walton praised Brewer for his professionalism with the Lakers, even after his string of 317 consecutive games - the NBA's longest active streak at the time - ended earlier this season.
Swingman Corey Brewerplans to sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder upon clearing waivers Friday, his agent confirmed to The Associated Press. The move will reunite Brewer, who starred on UF's NCAA championship teams of 2006 and '07, with the Thunder coach Billy Donovan (who coached those UF teams).
According to the Yahoo report, Donovan was a "significant factor" in Brewer's decision to commit to the Thunder. Former Los Angeles Lakers guard Corey Brewer will sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder after he clears waivers. Brewer will be the first player Donovan has coached in both college and the National Basketball Association. The Thunder lost Andre Roberson to an injury and Brewer could help fill that void.

Brewer has only managed 3.7 points and 1.7 rebounds in a whisker under 13 minutes per game with the Lakers, but he's bound to bolster the Thunder's defense and provide transition opportunities for a team that likes to run the fast break often. He also shot 45.3 percent from the field, 18.6 percent from three-point range, and 66.7 percent from the free-throw stripe.
