As per the estimation of the newly formed AP government, from June 2014 to March 2015, Rs 16078 crores was calculated as revenue deficit.
The deadlock over TDP's demand for special category status to Andhra Pradesh continued on Monday, as the meeting between party leaders and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley failed to make a breakthrough.
On the other hand, the BJP, an alliance partner of the TDP both in state and at the Centre, in its meeting held in Visakhapatnam on Saturday, chose to play the role of the opposition, if necessary, in the absence of the YSRC.
He went on to add: "To secure our rightful demand of special status, every MP from the state must put Andhra Pradesh first and resign from Parliament if the status is not granted".

As the second phase of Parliament's Budget Session commenced on 5 March, Andhra Pradesh MPs led protests in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha demanding Special Category status to their state. A team lead by Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu met Arun Jaitley to discuss about the special category for Andhra Pradesh. BJP Chief Amit Shah who was to attend the meeting called it a skip.
Team of AP Ministers meet Arun Jaitley about Special Status: With Centre ignoring Andhra Pradesh in all the available ways, protests started across and people turned restless. Speaking to the media after the meeting, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu stated that, they conveyed to Arun Jaitley that, Special Category Status should be granted to Andhra Pradesh at any cost.
Although the TDP had previous year given up its demand of special category status in lieu of the special package announced by Jaitley, in recent days it once again raised the issue.
