Deadly explosion in Austin kills teen, injures woman
The bomb squad and FBI are now at the scene assisting the Austin Police Department with the investigation. Interim police chief Brian Manley said it's believed a resident at a home in the 4800 block of Oldfort Hill Drive went outside and found a package on their front steps.
Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services reported the explosion on its verified Twitter account, saying the blast occurred at around 6:44 a.m. local time in the northeast section of the city.
KVUE also reports that investigators are looking to determine if this explosion may be connected to another deadly explosion in Austin that happened on March 2. That case was originally being investigated as a suspicious death but has now been reclassified as a homicide investigation.
Police are now investigating if the two explosions are linked.

The woman injured by the blast was rushed to the hospital where she is being treated for serious injuries.
Out of an abundance of caution, police said they evacuated neighbors on each side of the street due to the fear that there could have been a second package at the scene.
According to EMS officials, no one else was injured, and they ask that the public remain clear of the neighborhood north of Martin Luther King Boulevard near Springdale Road. Manley said in both cases, the suspect delivered the packages during the nighttime, and the victims found them in the morning on their doorstep. Authorities said the woman is in her 40s, but police have released no other details about the pair or the explosion.
In the package explosion on March 2, Austin police responded to a home in the 1100 block of Haverford Drive around 6:55 a.m.
