"In order to determine where people in America are most content with their lives, WalletHub compared more than 180 of the largest USA cities across 28 key indicators of happiness", according to WalletHub's website.

Bet you didn't know March 20 is International Day of Happiness.

Income and employment was evaluated based on commute times, weekly work hours, job satisfaction, job security, household income and rates of unemployment/underemployment, bankruptcy, income growth and poverty.

Pearl City on Oahu scored 75.19 points, ranking second in emotional and physical well being as well as in community and environment.

Though Pearl City ranked 57th for income and employment, the study does note that money can't buy happiness.

The rest of the top 10 happiest places in America were, in order, Pearl City, Hawaii; Plano, Texas; Fargo, N.D.; Sioux Falls, S.D.; Irvine, Calif.; Huntington Beach, Calif., and Grand Prairie, Texas.

But our local happiness indicator didn't stop at Fremont's city limits.

In fact, one key metric that Pearl City received positive marks for was having the fourth lowest separation and divorce rate.

Data was pulled from the U.S. Census Bureau, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and The Trust for Public Land.
