The world's largest social network said Thursday that it'll be releasing Facebook Lite, its pared-down app designed for people in developing countries with limited data plans, to the wider world, including Australia, Canada, Germany, France, the United Kingdom and US. However, demand among users in other markets has apparently spurred the company to expand its availability.
The app will be available for download from Thursday. However, Facebook only launched it in developing countries initially, leaving users elsewhere to pursue potentially risky APKs.

In the forthcoming rollout, the app available in countries including the US, Canada, Australia, UK, France, Germany, Ireland, and New Zealand. The availability in emerging markets is also expanding, though which other countries are getting access isn't clear at the moment. If you're anxious about going over your data cap because Facebook uses too much data in the background, then the lite version of the app may be just what you need. If you aren't a fan of the million extra features it has and simply want to focus on the basics, you should probably check out Facebook Lite.
