Police Fire kills 20 Myanmar migrant workers on bus in Thailand
The country's roads are notoriously risky, giving Thailand one of the world's highest rates of traffic deaths.
A fire on a double-decker bus carrying migrant workers killed 20 people early Friday a week after another high death toll showed the continuing dangers of Thailand's roads.
According to reports, the bus was coming from Mae Sot province to Nava Nakorn Industrial Zone in Pathum Thani, after the workers had successfully completed the registration of their work permits by the Thai labour ministry.
The police are investigating the cause of the fatal incident. The authorities were planning to interview the driver, who survived the fire.

Low status and poorly paid, migrant workers often fall victim to safety lapses and exploitation in Thailand.
Three other Myanmarians were injured when they jumped out of the bus while 24 others were able to get out in time and were not injured. While 20 people were killed, the rest escaped with minor injuries.
Thailand is estimated to have more than 3 million migrant workers, many of whom come from much poorer neighbour Myanmar. The new rules, which carried prison terms of up to five years for working without legal documents, led tens of thousands of workers to return home.
