Pienaar represented the likes of Everton, Sunderland, Borussia Dortmund, Ajax Amsterdam and Tottenham Hotspur in his club career, while on the global front he amassed 61 senior caps and represented South Africa at two World Cups, the Confederations Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations.

Pienaar announced his retirement from playing earlier this week, calling time on a 19-year career.

"Today I'm announcing my retirement from football". It's been a long [journey]; a lot of ups and downs throughout my career, but like I said, I really appreciate your love, and thanks for everything. "I want to say thanks to my mum and my family and all the clubs that I have played for and the supporters".

'I hope to announce something new at the end of March but I'll be doing some TV work too in South Africa and overseas.
