Syrian official: Roadside bomb explodes in tense Manbij town
"Turkey will not hesitate to use initiative if terrorists in Manbij are not driven away", a statement on Erdogan's presidential website read, warning the USA whose special forces continue to work with Kurdish-led groups in the northern Syrian town. The official argued that the operation is jeopardizing the broader US -led military campaign against the Islamic State group.
His comment came after French Pesident Emmanuel Macron met members of the Kurdish-dominated Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) including the YPG in Paris on Thursday and offered to mediate in the conflict. Ankara said that Turkey would conduct a military operation similar to the one conducted in other regions in northern Syria if the requirement is ignored.
The Kurdish claim raised fears that France was ready for a military conflict with Turkey, a fellow North Atlantic Treaty Organisation member. Turkey's military argues Manbij is controlled by Syrian Kurdish militiamen it views as an extension of Kurdish insurgents inside Turkey.
The French Presidency has not yet confirmed the news.
An official in Macron's office denied any such plans, saying Friday that Macron only promised the Syrian rebels to "continue this fight together" against Islamic State extremists in the area.

French President Macron assures the SDF of France's support against Daesh, while recalling the commitment of his country to Turkey's security and against the PKK terror group.
.Turkey believes that U.S. President Trump also wants to improve bilateral ties, but that his efforts are undermined by holdovers from the previous administration and establishment officials.
