This is not the first time that the commercial activities of the Frida Kahlo Corporation are said to have angered some of Kahlo's descendants.

"[The corporation] celebrates the ideological contributions of Frida Kahlo, which have transcended the borders of art and which will influence new generations as a world icon through the Frida Kahlo Barbie".
Jason Preston started a Change.org petition, which called on the toy company to make its first trans woman Barbie doll in honor of the actress.
The Frida Kahlo Barbie was announced on Tuesday.
Beatriz Alvarado, a spokeswoman for the Frida Kahlo Corporation, said by telephone on Friday that the company had been formed by people who secured rights to market Kahlo's name and likeness after paying a fee in 2005 to Isolda Pineda Kahlo, one of the artist's nieces. She tweeted: 'I'd be all about this but Mattel needs to make heaps and heaps because chances are, they'd sell out within seconds (like the Ava doll) and I'd be sad face'.
'She epitomizes not only the messages of the Inspiring Women and Sheroes Barbie doll lines but that of Barbie herself. "It should be a Frida that represents Mexico". Many believed that Barbie doll lay in the heads of the girls the wrong idea of beauty and create for them the image of the ideal woman with a disproportionately small waist, long legs and luxurious hair, which has little to do with real life and only creates complexes.
The doll retails for $29.99 on the official Barbie website, but is now sold out at the time of this post.
