Congress president Rahul Gandhi, on Friday, appointed Ashok Gehlot as the general secretary, organisation and training, AICC, in place of Janardan Dwivedi. The Congress chief has entrusted Gehlot, a senior party leader and former chief minister of Rajasthan and in-charge of Gujarat so far, with the task of running the AICC as well as mentoring young Congressmen. Mr Gehlot has been apparently rewarded for putting up a spirited fight in Gujarat Assembly elections a year ago as he was the general secretary of the party in the hitherto BJP stronghold western state. He had also headed the party's communication department and was in charge of key States like Haryana. After Gehlot, Amit Chavda has been made as president of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee.
"The party appreciates the hard work and contribution of B K Hariprasad who will be stepping down from his responsibility as AICC general secretary in-charge of Odisha", an AICC statement said.
Meanwhile, as the Rajasthan Assembly Elections are due to held in the later part of 2018, Ashok Gehlot has been given the responsibility after his good performance in the Gujarat elections this year.
Satav, who is now the party's Gujarat in-charge, is an MP from Hingoli in Maharashtra.

A completely revamped Congress is likely to be in place in the coming times, as stated by the party president himself.
