A high school teacher is facing several charges after police say he barricaded himself in his Georgia classroom and fired a handgun while students stood outside the door.
Mr. Davidson stayed in his classroom for at least a half-hour before being taken into police custody without incident, Mr. Frazier said.
Following a almost 45-minute standoff with police officers on Wednesday (Feb. 28), a Dalton High School teacher surrendered himself after firing his handgun inside a classroom.
A standoff lasted up to 45 minutes before Mr Davidson was taken into custody.
Jesse Randall Davidson, who taught social studies and was a play-by-play announcer at football games at Dalton High School, had reportedly locked the door of the classroom during his planning period.
Police noted Davidson did not appear to want to hurt the students or faculty. When the principal arrived to attempt to unlock the classroom door, a shot was sacked.
"In response to a threat lock down at Dalton High School, students are being relocated to the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center at 2211 Dug Gap Battle Road".
Frazier said there was no evidence that Davidson was trying to fire at anyone.

Davidson had called cops in 2016 and said he that he had a woman killed, according to WDEF. Davidson was then taken to a hospital. I am now totally against it, ' he said. The only injury reported was an injured ankle, which a student sustained when evacuating the premises. Davidson was conscious but non-responsive to Dalton staff, and was transported to the hospital via EMS, according to an incident report. Cops could not verify the information in his story, suspected that he was delusional, and provided medical care for his admitted suicidal thoughts.
The school's student resource officer had left campus momentarily to stop by the nearby middle school, Bartoo said.
Both reports were posted late Wednesday by the Chattanooga Times Free Press. Davidson told him he was alone in the room.
It wasn't immediately clear whether the note was related to the shooting Wednesday at Dalton High School.
Threats have been made at schools across the country in the wake of the deadly February 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. It is located about 90 miles north of Atlanta.
