Google Play audiobooks get new features like Smart Resume and more
Family Library might not be a new feature for all Play Books users - it allows you to share audiobooks and e-books with up to five family members. With Smart Resume, it will intelligently rewind you to the beginning of a word or sentence so you will not get lost, especially if it's been a while since you stopped listening. A tipster tells us Google has uploaded new Tasks-related assets and set up new URLs for the service.
But arguably a more popular update will be the "smart resume" feature. Just tap the bookmark icon while you're listening, and this will create a marker that you can always come back to. So if there's a particular quotable notable that you like, you can now hit the bookmark button and come back to it later.
Additionally, users will be able to add audiobooks to a Google Assistant routine, thus enabling it to be automatically played as part of a morning program, for example.
Now, Google is adding more features to audiobooks in Google Play. Users can listen at 3x speed (which is the fastest), or choose to slow books down to 0.5x speed to go over things slowly.
You are presented with two steps that have a confirm button with some meaningless text, followed by the third one that will be the prompt that signs you up for the subscription.

Google says that these new features are rolling out starting today on Android, iOS, and on devices with the Google Assistant. It is available for ebooks and audiobooks in 13 new countries namely Belgium, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Chile, Mexico, Japan (audiobooks only), and South Africa.
