AEK's Spanish coach Manolo Jimenez saw the firearm and claims to have heard Savvidis threatening the referee verbally.
Ivan Savvidis, one of Greece's richest men, walked onto the pitch during an interruption in the match on Sunday night in Thessaloniki when referee Georgios Kominis disallowed a goal from PAOK's Fernando Varela in the 89th minute. On the second occasion, without the overcoat he was wearing before, Savvidis appeared to be carrying a pistol which was in its holder.
Despite the pitch invasion beginning before the 90 minutes had been wholly completed, the match did not restart but the result will stand.
The referee first postponed and then abandoned the match although there was some confusion over the final score, with Paok claiming on Twitter that the goal had been reinstated but the league's website showing the score as 0-0.
'We learned later that the president had a gun, we did not see it there on the pitch'. 'It could be seen that he was moving his hand towards his waist because he had a gun'.
