The Plan International, a development partner, has lauded the federal government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari for its prompt action that led to the release of 104 abducted Dapchi school girls.

Boko Haram militants who kidnapped more than 100 schoolgirls in Dapchi, northeast Nigeria, just over a month ago have returned the students to the town, two parents told AFP yesterday. "Parents who have not seen their daughters are anxious".

"Accordingly, security agencies would not hesitate to decisively deal with such unscrupulous characters", Buhari vowed.

He added that the Federal Government entered into negotiations for the release of the girls, as a way of ensuring that none of them was hurt by their abductors.

Reiterating his administration's commitment to the fight against terrorism and insurgency, Buhari urged all Nigerians to join in this task.

Faiza statement underscored the need for authorities to beef up security in the school so as to build confidence both among the students and parents who are at the moment apprehensive of the renewed attacks on schools.

"President Buhari assures the Sharibu family that he will continue to do all he can to ensure that they also have cause to rejoice with their daughter soon", the government statement said.

He said while he was sad that she was not among those released, he is happy she did not denounced Christ.

He said since the release of the Dapchi girls were negotiated by friendly countries and reputable worldwide organisations, it would have taken a conspiracy of global proportion to have stage-managed the adoption and release of the girls. Security, anti-corruption and revamping of our economy are the main focus of our Government.

The President thanked the security operatives and global partners who made the release of the students possible.

"It is not true that we paid ransom for the release of the Dapchi girls, neither was there a prisoner swap to secure their release".

When the militants brought back the girls Wednesday, they reportedly also delivered a stern warning: "Don't ever put your daughters in school again".

Also, the #BBOG (Bring Back Our Girls campaign) said some insurgents that were freed in the past later backtracked and unleashed terror on the people.

The release of the girls came a day after an Amnesty International report accused the Nigerian military of failing to heed several warnings of the imminent attack on February 19 during which the girls were seized.

Daura said that the freed students were medically examined and those with ailments treated.

Similarly, the apex Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, expressed concern about the release of thousands of Boko Haram suspects and the promise of amnesty for repentant insurgents by the President.
