Renowned playwright and Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to speak to people's security needs, as well as bring an end to the incessant clashes between farmers and herdsmen and Boko Haram insurgents.

The forum, an initiative of the Ripples Centre for Data and Investigative Journalism (RCDIJ) with support from Ripples Nigeria drew participants from the public, organised private sector, academia, media, members of the diplomatic corps and several others.

While expressing displeasure on the current situation of the country, he advised that concrete efforts needed to be made to safe Nigeria's future.

"This is another attempt to silence criticism. But now I can call them Fulani herdsmen because they have identified themselves as Fulani herdsmen", Soyinka said.
