MARKUDI- Ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari's visit to Benue on Monday, security has been beefed up, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Meanwhile, the Federal Road Safety Corps, Benue State Command, says it has made adequate arrangements to ensure free flow of traffic during Buhari's visit to the state.

According to the release, the president will have an interactive session with selected Benue indigenes and visit the IDP camp via helicopter.

Representative of the chairman of the Committee, Mr. John Owoicho, commended the state government for effectively managing disasters, noting that by the Committee's rating, Benue was leading in that direction.

Buhari is expected in Benue to condole with the people of the state over the deaths of local farmers killed by suspected herdsmen on January 1 in Guma and Logo Local Government Areas.

Buhari met with the herdsmen association Miyetti Allah, and appealed with the people in the state to apply restraint.

"It is sad beyond description and that is why I have taken it upon myself, haven been to Maiduguri where we had a meeting of Zero Hunger Forum".

He regretted that the investment and development can not take place in a chaotic atmosphere because investors would be unwilling to invest in such places. "They must leave no stone unturned to find what is the root cause of this and put a stop to it", Obasanjo said.
