The Kerry Washington-Reese Witherspoon Limited Drama Has a Home
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Hulu has picked up Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington's adaptation of Celeste Ng's novel Little Fires Everywhere, handing it a straight-to-series order.
Ng's book follows the story of the Richardson family whose lives are disrupted by the arrival of a mother and daughter.
The book also deals with the relation of art in a person's journey to finding the identity and the danger of conforming to rules.
Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine, Washington's Simpson Street and ABC Signature Studios will produce the project.
Liz Tigelaar - whose credits include Life Unexpected and Casual - wrote and will serve as showrunner/executive producer on the project. The show, based on the 2017 bestseller by Celeste Ng, wound up at the streaming service after an intense bidding war.
Stillerman said that as soon as Witherspoon pitched the story through the Hello Sunshine Studio, which she founded in 2016, it was nearly an instinct that they partner together. The Oscar victor and Emmy nominee's Hello Sunshine is also exec producing Apple's Kristen Wiig's straight-to-series comedy and developing Octavia Spencer starrer Are You Sleeping for the tech giant.

The show will be co-produced by Hello Sunshine, ABC Signature Studios, and Washington's production company Simpson Street.

"Little Fires Everywhere" represents the latest TV project in Witherspoon's crowded schedule; she's also set to return for Season 2 of HBO's "Big Little Lies" and is starring with Jennifer Aniston in Apple's series about morning TV. "As an actress, I am floored to have the opportunity to work alongside Reese Witherspoon..." she said. Reese Witherspoon then brought the book to Kerry Washington, and together they approached Liz Tigelaar to adapt and showrun the limited series.
