Here is the entire News Release from ICE:232 illegal aliens arrested during ICE operation in Northern CaliforniaSAN FRANCISCO- U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deportation officers arrested 232 individuals for violating federal immigration laws in the San Francisco area of responsibility (AOR), extending from the Bakersfield area north to the OR border, during a four-day targeted operation that ended Wednesday.
The Trump administration has cracked down on so-called sanctuary policies, insisting that local law enforcement inform federal agents when they are about to release immigrants discovered to be living in the country illegally.
Schaaf said she wanted residents to "prepare, not panic", and urged people to know their rights, directing them to a legal services agency geared toward Latino immigrants.
Schaaf has defended her actions saying it was her "duty and moral obligation as Mayor to give those families fair warning when that threat appears imminent".

Homan said in a statement on February 27: "The Oakland mayor's decision to publicize her suspicions about ICE operations further increased that risk for my officers and alerted criminal aliens - making clear that this reckless decision was based on her political agenda with the very federal laws that ICE is sworn to uphold".
"I have to believe that some of them were able to elude us thanks to the mayor's irresponsible decision", he said.

After Governor Jerry Brown signed the California Values Act (SB 54) into law last October 5, which prohibited state and local agencies from enforcing immigration laws or from working with immigration enforcement agencies, Homan issued a strongly worded statement that said, in part: "Governor Jerry Brown's decision to sign SB 54 and make California a sanctuary state for illegal aliens - including those who have committed crimes - will undermine public safety and hinder ICE from performing its federally mandated mission". Despite the severe challenges that this law creates for ICE, we remain committed to our public safety mission and we will continue to do our sworn duty to seek out risky criminal aliens and other immigration violators.
