The essay is titled: "Monica Lewinsky: Emerging from "The House of Gaslight" in the age of #metoo". Two decades of therapy gave her the courage, she wrote, to approach him instead of fleeing the restaurant. "(Full stop)." She understands - and wants others to understand, hence the essay - that while her active participation in the relationship to Clinton separates her story from those of #MeToo victims who were harassed or assaulted without consent, she sees the connective tissue between their experiences and hers. That I had made mistakes, on that we can all agree.
She also said she was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) several years ago. "There are many more women and men whose voices and stories need to be heard before mine", she wrote.
"I'm beginning to entertain the notion that in such a circumstance the idea of consent might well be rendered moot", she added. She has now realized that the bond "constituted a gross abuse of power".

Now, in a Vanity Fair article written by Lewinsky herself, Monica reflects on the social changes that have occurred since her name had dominated headlines.

She was paving the way for an apology, she wrote. The New York Times reported she has appeared at benefits and "joined a feminist networking group".
There is no mention of any romantic involvement in her most recent essay for Vanity Fair. "You can ask it, but I keep my personal life private". Lewinsky recalled thinking when she first saw the former prosecutor.
But her new role and life have been hard won. Ms Lewsinsky said she hoped new activism and a reshaping of public life meant perpetrators would no longer be able to use isolation as a weapon against women. Some of Lewinsky's favorite activities include: going out to dinner, seeing a show, concert or movie and watching The Good Wife.
