India grouped with Belgium Canada and South Africa for Hockey World Cup 2018
Belgium eliminated India from the 2016 Olympics at the quarters stage, and went on to pick sliver behind Argentina. Over the course of the nineteen-day competition, sixteen of the world's best men's global hockey teams will take to the field at the 16,000 capacity Kalinga Stadium, a venue that is now undergoing extensive refurbishment in preparation for what is certain to be a spectacular event both on and off the field. Fanatical fans in the two countries have always looked forward to matches between the two neighbours, once the two dominant forces in hockey that are now struggling to compete with the European powerhouses which have stolen a march on them. For India, ranked sixth in the world, Belgium are the only higherranked team, at world No.3.
But alas, Bhubaneswar may not witness an India-Pakistan clash altogether - not even in the knockout phase.
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) today announced the pools and match schedule for the men's Hockey World Cup to be held in Bhubaneswar from November 28 to December 16.
The 16 teams competing in the competition have been divided into four groups.
The Indian team will kick off its campaign against South Africa on November 28 followed by matches against Belgium on December 2 and Canada on December 8.

Pool B will take centre stage on day three with Australia beginning their defence against Ireland and England locking horns with China.
