Smriti Mandhana India vs England

India Women at last registered their first win in the T20 tri-series involving Australia Women and England Women in Mumbai.

Mandhana is a 21-year-old batswoman from Mumbai who opens the innings for Indian's national women's team and is one of the most feared strikers of the ball now. For as long as the powerplay lasted, England dominated, dominating the Indian bowlers like they had in the previous game. If we get asked to bat first, we have to find a way to get a score. Mandhana continued to provide powerful start to India and a horrid one for Katie George who was smashed for three consecutive boundaries in the second over.

Smriti Mandhana made an explosive start to the Women's World Cup a year ago when she scored 90 in the opener against England, before scoring a century against West Indies in the second game. The duo stitched together 60 off 63 balls for the third wicket, with Harmanpreet going snail-paced for a 31-ball 20.

Their good length got the better of the England batters, especially with Poonam and Radha unleashing variety of them.

Danni Wyatt and Amy Jones were tentative initially, before they both began to find the boundary. However, once the opener was caught and bowled by Deepti Sharma for 31, India's spinners took control. The Indian bowlers, for the first time in this tri-series, looked in control and kept taking wickets at regular intervals and the English team was bowled out for a paltry 107 in 18.5 overs.

Wyatt's dismissal proved to be the turning point of the match as the visitors lost their nine wickets for the addition of only 58 runs in the face of some superb bowling from Indian tweakers. India lost Mithali Raj and Jemimah Rodrigues in the first six overs, but having put on 49 during this period, the required rate had taken a massive dip.

Australia Women, who top the standings with 3 wins from four matches, and England Women, who have two wins from four matches, will now lock horns in the final on Saturday.
