Karti Chidambaram in Tihar Jail till March 24
According to the application filed in the court, during the confrontation, Indrani has told the investigators that she was "willing to identify the place where she and Peter Mukerjea had met Karti in connection with the FIPB issue of INX Media and where he demanded an amount of $one million for settling such issues".
The matter came up for hearing today at around 12pm when Karti was presented before the Special CBI judge Sunil Rana, after his three day remand got over. It also said that his bail plea would be heard on March 15 as scheduled.
It is noteworthy that Karti's lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi, asking for an extension of the remand, said that the CBI comes with some excuse for remand every time. "Hence, CBI is conducting investigation of the case without the co-operation of the accused", the CBI said in court.
Karti, son of former union minister P Chidambaram, is accused of accepting money from INX Media in 2007 and 2008 in exchange for facilitating foreign investment approvals for the INX Media group, using the influence of his father, who was then Union finance minister.

The investigation agency did not press for any further police custody but moved an application for a fifteen day judicial custody while Karti moved an application seeking separate prison cell during judicial custody.
The CBI, in this case, has appealed to the court to grant permission to question Chartered Accountant S. Bhaskar Raman and Karti regarding the charges related to the accused, which is approved by the court. However, the judge directed Tihar Jail authorities to provide and ensure proper safety and security to Karti during the judicial custody.
He was arrested on his return from the United Kingdom in connection with the FIR lodged on May 15 a year ago.
Arguing for Karti Chidambaram Senior Advocate Dayan Krishnan prayed that Karti should be provided with proper security if he is being sent to judicial custody. The FIR alleged irregularities in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance to INX Media for receiving overseas funds of about Rs 305 crore in 2007 when his father was Union finance minister.
