Kushner Companies received more than $500 million in loans previous year from lenders who had recently met with Jared Kushner at the White House, the New York Times reported. The New York Times later reported on several massive loans Kushner's business received after meetings he held in the White House. Kushner's sister presented herself to investors by noting her familial relationship with the senior White House adviser.

The loan was for $184 million and helped Kushner's Chicago-based real estate firm refinance a mortgage.

The topic of a job at the White House was also brought up, though never materialized. After that meeting, Citigroup lent Kushner Companies $325 million to finance buildings in Brooklyn, the Times reported. News reported in February that, as of November 2017, more than 130 political appointees under the Executive Office of the President-of whom 47 reported directly to Trump-still only had interim security clearances, including Kushner, wife Ivanka Trump, and Trump's top legal counsel. "On top of rightfully losing his clearance, multiple recent stories have further shown that the corruption Kushner brings to the White House is matched only by Trump himself, and maintaining his position continues to put our country at risk of foreign influence".

A fourth offense, according to the DNC, is a report from Tuesday that officials from the United Arab Emirates, China, Israel and Mexico have privately discussed how to use Kushner's lack of foreign policy experience and business interests to their advantage.

When asked about Kushner, Pelosi said, "I don't think he should have been there, to begin with, especially with the portfolio that he had".

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss Kushner's security clearance review, said there was a difference of opinion among intelligence officials about the significance of the conversations.

The Kushner Cos., for example, had attempted to raise money for its struggling 666 Fifth Avenue skyscraper in NY from a large Chinese insurer with ties to the ruling Communist Party. Others thought Kushner knew the topic would likely surface and used the opportunity while talking to the foreign officials to engage in conversations about his business interests.

Kushner's contacts with foreign officials also have been a part of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, a former US official told the AP. The downgrade in the senior White House adviser's temporary security clearance to secret level limits his access to highly classified information.

According to the Times, "Apollo has sought ways to benefit from the White House's possible infrastructure plan".
