JR Smith breaks out of 'ruff' times with therapy dog
The Cavaliers invited the UNC baseball team, who was in Charlotte after playing the 49ers the night before, to the team's brunch so that the Cavs could spend some time with UNC's team service dog, Remington.
"For me, it was right on time".
Cavs guard JR Smith hung out with a therapy dog prior to Wednesday night's game in Charlotte, and it proved to be just what he needed to score 19 points (on 8-of-9 shooting) off the bench in Cleveland's 118-105 win against the Hornets.
Head athletic trainer Steve Spiro, who had read an article about Remi, arranged the meeting between the UNC baseball team (and the dog) and the Cavs. Remington not only provides companionship for team members while they're going through rehabilitation after injuries but also can execute functional tasks such as opening a door for a player on crutches or fetching a towel for a player coming out of an ice bath, according to Spiro.
