Hali had signed a 3-year, $21 million extension as recently as 2016, and a cap hit of almost $9.4 million this coming season simply wasn't anything the Chiefs could afford to stomach.
Hali played in just 5 games for the Chiefs this past season, spending much of the beginning of the season on the PUP list.
It will be interesting to see if Hali drums up any interest as a free agent.
