In a second tweet addressed at New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, he then wrote: "What are you going to do about this?"

Damages for loss of benefit of NZ$30,000 (£15,373) and loss of dignity and injury to feelings of NZ$60,000 (£30,747) have also been rewarded to Dotcom.

A Wellington court ruled that the attorney general broke the law by refusing Dotcom's request to be given all the information about him held by public agencies. The departments deferred the decision to the office of the attorney general, who declined the German-Finnish entrepreneur's information request, treating it as "vexatious": made purely to cause annoyance.

In December, Dotcom filed a claim against the New Zealand and US Governments for pursuing and maintaining an erroneous arrest warrant and misleading the New Zealand court which granted it.

Dotcom described the judgment on twitter as a "Big Win" and said "This is a great victory".

The Human Rights Review Tribunal's decision might be relevant for his high-profile USA extradition case, which is with the Court of Appeal. As a result of the ruling, the Tribunal has ordered the country's government to now share the requested documents.

Dotcom's testimony to the tribunal was "persuasive, clear, thorough and consistent" (file).

Kim Dotcom has declared his extradition case to be "over".

"It is OVER! By unlawfully withholding information that could have helped my case the former Attorney General of New Zealand has perverted the course of Justice", he added.

"We are satisfied by his evidence that the requests were genuine and based on an honest belief that in the unique circumstances of a truly exceptional case, the July 2015 Privacy Act requests were necessary to ascertain what personal information about him was held by government agencies in New Zealand".

But in Autumn 2016 Dotcom launched an appeal against that extradition ruling, and has also has filed claims for damages of roughly $10bn in December against United States and New Zealand authorities "for the destruction of Megaupload" and the constraints on his liberty for more than seven years.

The Privacy Commissioner retweeted Dotcom's request without commenting on it, which elicited another blow from Dotcom. The Human Rights Tribunal judgment makes you look utterly incompetent at best or co-conspiratorial at worst.
