Jerusalem had no formal response on Sunday to Russian President Vladimir Putin's comments broadcast on Saturday saying Jews might have been behind alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. Presidential election, even as American Jewish organizations criticized Putin for his remarks.

It then affirmed "the launch was successful, the hypersonic missile hit the designated target at the field".

The Kinzhal was one of several new weapons unveiled by the Kremlin at the start of the month during Putin's state of the nation address. The Kinzhal system was developed based on the MiG-31 upgraded interceptor jet.

Putin said the missile flies at 10 times the speed of the sound and can overcome air-defence systems.

Putin adds that he has been informed by security officers that the procedure in such a situation is to take off the plane.

One suggestion for delivery is that it may be launched from the new Russian Sarmat intercontinental missile system - due to come into service this year.

The system has no counterparts across the globe owing to high flight performance characteristic of the MiG-31 fighter jet and the hypersonic missile with a small radar signature and high maneuverability.

The secretary called Putin's remarks "disappointing, but unsurprising". The passenger was drunk and the plane would continue its flight to Turkey.

In its response the USA state department said this was not "the behaviour of a responsible worldwide player".

However, US defense secretary, James Mattis, talking to reporters while traveling in Oman, said nothing that Russian Federation has shown off changes anything, from the Pentagon's perspective.

ADL head Jonathan Greenblatt issued a statement saying that "as the Russian government faces expanding evidence and new questions about possible meddling in USA elections, President Putin bizarrely has resorted to the blame game by pointing the finger at Jews and other minorities in his country".

"I said, 'No, I'm not Russian - I'm Jewish, '" Gorin recalled Monday, 27 years after the exchange at John F. Kennedy International Airport in NY. "They did not impact any need on our side for a change in our deterrent posture".

"In the end, they can spend all the money".

Speaking to reporter Andrey Kondrashov, Putin said he sought advice from his security team, who informed him that in emergencies such as this the best course of action is to down the plane.
