2018 Ford Mustang Bullitt confirmed for UK sales
Further details and New Zealand pricing and specification of the 2018 Ford Mustang Bullitt special edition will be announced closer to its launch in late 2018.
Ford confirmed this week it would expand allocations beyond US for Europe and Australia, and will make a small pool of buyers very happy by doing so. In fact, last month it reported the highest sales figure of any sports for the 26th consecutive month. The suspension can also be upgraded to include magnetic dampers, which Ford says "optimises driving performance"; surely just the thing for jumping through San Francisco's streets. The third-generation Mustang Bullitt follows in the footsteps of previous special edition Bullitt models in 2001 and 2008.
A limited batch of cars - green with black wheels, a tribute to the Mustang driven by Steve McQueen's character in the 1968 movie - is due in local showrooms in October, shortly after the updated Mustang arrives in July.
Instead of the 475hp of the U.S. version, the Euro-spec Ford Mustang Bullitt is limited to 457hp (464PS) out of its uprated 5.0-liter V8 which is a little bit sad but not sad enough to spoil the excitement. Ford quotes figures of 341kW and 529Nm.
Paired to it will be a six-speed manual transmission with Ford's new rev-matching technology which blips the throttle as the driver downshifts. Of course, McQueen would want you to do it yourself...
There are also subtle chrome accents around the grille and front windows, Torque Thrust 19-inch aluminum wheels, red Brembo brakes, and a unique black front grille.

Australia not exempted from Trump tariffs

Each Mustang Bullitt will also feature an individually numbered plaque in place of the traditional Mustang emblem on the passenger-side dashboard.
The late McQueen's grandchildren, supported by their father Chad McQueen, starred in their own car-chase scene set in the Swiss Alps surrounding Geneva.
"Steve McQueen as Bullitt created a legend, and Mustang Bullitt is the ideal way to salute an icon of the silver screen", Ford Australia chief executive Graeme Whickman said.
