Cornell spoke of Cash at the time he recorded "You Never Knew My Mind'". The song was recorded at Cash Cabin Studio in Hendersonville, TN and it comes as a posthumous response to Cash's cover of Soundgarden's Rusty Cage, released 21 years ago. 'I can't listen to it without it laying me down.
A newly shared ballad based on two Johnny Cash poems is the first posthumously released track sung by Chris Cornell since the Soundgarden singer died past year.
Cornell took the two songs, which were not released, and combined them into one, keeping the title "You Never Knew My Mind", according to Loudwire.
