There have been scenes of chaos at Manchester's busiest station after all trains were either cancelled or delayed
Virgin Trains services from Milton Keynes Central to and from Manchester Piccadilly are now being disrupted, as protesters have made their way onto the tracks at the station.
Pictures and videos on social media show people waving the flag of the YPG - the Kurdish militia which helped to defeat the jihadis in Syria.
It is understood Kurdish activists are protesting Turkish sales of arms to the terror group.
All lines are now blocked at Manchester Piccadilly, which is one of the country's busiest rail stations.
Witnesses say some passengers were in tears and faced long delays getting out of the station, which is now closed.
A spokesman for Network Rail said: "The station will remain closed until all protesters have been removed".

The station opened again just before 4pm GMT as the protesters left the premises.
The National Rail Twitter account wrote: 'The station has been closed due to a protest gathering.
"Trains may be amended, cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes".
Disruption is expected to last until around 4.30pm, National Rail has said. More info when we have it'.
