Celtics guard Marcus Smart has tendon injury in thumb
Smart has struggled to score efficiently at the National Basketball Association level, shooting 36.0 percent from the field and 29.3 percent from three-point range since the Celtics selected him with the sixth overall pick in the 2014 National Basketball Association draft.
Per Charania, Smart suffered a torn tendon in his right thumb and will seek second opinions on his thumb before deciding his next move. Smart posted 20 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, four steals and six 3-pointers in 36 minutes on Sunday.
"(It's) sore, but it will be alright", Smart said Sunday night after the game, sporting a black soft brace on his thumb after the injury. Theis was averaging 5.3 points and 4.4 rebounds in 63 games this season, playing behind Al Horford and Greg Monroe.
