Eddie Jones has sought to draw a line under the derogatory comments made about Ireland and Wales heading into England's final Six Nations match.

Gatland refused to become embroiled in the controversy which blew up with the emergence of video featuring Jones calling Wales "a little s-- place" and labelling the Irish as "scummy".

The comment was made after Ireland beat England on St Patrick's Day past year - and a video surfaced this week ahead of the showdown in London between the two sides.

"Marius is an outstanding talent with a big global future and both he and his employer SARU (South African Rugby Union) fully support the decision".

Jones insists the key to foiling Ireland is to ensure England are operating at "peak arousal state".

Former Australia and Japan coach Jones, in an apology released by England's governing Rugby Football Union, said: "I apologise unreservedly for any offence caused - no excuses and I shouldn't have said what I did".

England have lost back-to-back games under Jones for the first time, a year after matching New Zealand's record of 18 consecutive wins for a tier one nation.

Ireland coach Joe Schmidt played down Jones' remarks, saying they were "not directly relevant to us". I 'm happy to obviously answer questions on a fantastic game that's coming up but I think the other matter is dead.

Asked if he will reconsider giving similar talks in future, Jones replied: "Ah, possibly, yeah. I don't think they need any more motivation".

Alexis Sanchez congratulated by Wenger on Manchester United move
When Arsenal fans are at peace with losing a star player, he must come with some serious drawbacks. I think he has to choose his best front three and be courageous enough to leave one out.

"I don't know, we all say things behind closed doors".

England won the last two Six Nations.

"It is not offensive to us".

A loophole some say England have exploited.

England coach Eddie Jones made seven changes from the team that started the loss to France last weekend, with halfbacks George Ford and Danny Care among those dropped.

"You should be asking World Rugby, we went through World Rugby and asked for a southern hemisphere referee to try and help us with our breakdown and that's what they offered".

"Saturday is a huge opportunity for us to finish the campaign well, at home in front of our fans", Gatland said, predicting a French team in fine spirits after their 22-16 win over England.

"If they don't beat Ireland, and they have three hard games against South Africa (in the away series that follows), they can go from a losing streak of three to six very quickly".
