The suspected drunk driver was charged last week with vehicular homicide in connection with a deadly hit and run.
The Denver Coroner's office on Monday announced John Anderson, 57, was killed in the fiery March 3 crash. The California native drove commercial trucks for many years, according to an obituary.
Denver Police say Zamarripa-Castaneda was merging his pickup truck onto eastbound I-70 near Brighton Blvd. when he struck a semi-truck.
Zamarripa-Castaneda allegedly fled the scene prior to police arriving.
Zamarripa-Castaneda posted a $25,000 bond at 5:28 p.m. Saturday, but ICE wasn't notified that he was being released until an hour later. Ivan Gerardo Zamarripa-Castaneda, 26, was being held at the Denver Jail on charges of vehicular homicide but has since bonded out.

Zamarripa-Castaneda was arrested the following day at his home on West Bayaud Avenue in Denver and was found to be an "immigration fugitive", leaving him vulnerable to deportation back to Mexico by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. ABC News affiliate The Denver Channel reported that the 26-year-old exhibited slurred speech, alcohol on his breath, watery eyes, and was unable to complete a sobriety test.
The Denver Sheriff's Department is investigating why immigration authorities were not notified of the release of a jail inmate until about an hour after he had already left.
"This is unacceptable and the sheriff has ordered an immediate internal review to determine why established notification processes did not take place before Zamarripa-Castaneda was released", the sheriff's department said in a statement.
As law enforcement professionals, we should all have the same ultimate goal in mind to protect the public by combating criminals. The agency did respond to a detainer issued by ICE on March 5, for Zamarripa-Castaneda, however, it did not occur until 8:33 p.m. [ET] - after the suspect posted bail.
