People are advised to stay indoors during the Red Alert, and to avoid road journeys unless emergency.

"Some rural communities could become, or remain cut off. Interruptions to power supplies and mobile phone coverage are also possible".

Weather warnings remain in place on Friday as Wales braces itself for a second day of snow. The warning states that blizzard like conditions are likely in Wednesday, Thursday and much of Friday.

Last night Met Eireann updated the red alert to include all counties, until tomorrow afternoon.
