Strampel is now in the Ingham County Jail system, according to jail records. "He will be joined by 1st/Lt. Ryan Pennell from the Michigan State Police, Chief Deputy Attorney General Laura Moody, and Assistant Attorneys General Christina Grossi and Bill Rollstin".

Police in Michigan have arrested William Strampel, a former Michigan State University dean and boss of Larry Nassar, the ex-doctor for USA Gymnastics now doing time in prison, MSU spokeswoman Emily Gerkin Guerrant said. Nassar also pleaded guilty to federal child pornography charges and now is serving 60 years in a federal prison in Tucson, Arizona.

Strampel, the former dean of the MSU's College of Osteopathic Medicine, is facing revocation of his tenure by interim MSU President John Engler, the first step in terminating his employment. He told police previous year that he never followed up after ordering Nassar to have a third person present during certain treatments.

Nassar was sacked from MSU in September 2016 over the allegations of sexual abuse.

In January, Nassar, a former US gymnastics doctor who worked at MSU, was sentenced to up to 175 years in prison for molesting and sexually assaulting girls he was treating. At least 12 reported assaults occurred after the probe ended, according to a university police report. The move is in response to Strampel's failure to monitor and enforce clinical practice guidelines put in place for Nassar following a 2014 sexual harassment investigation.
