This isn't the first time we're hearing that Instagram is testing these features internally.
Instagram's blatant copy of Snapchat's "Stories" has been the company's smartest move, as 300 million of its active users have embraced the feature within a year of its launch. Both of these allow for users to take photos and videos and then string them together like a slide show, which they can then broadcast to their followers, before they disappear in 24 hours. Instagram could always decide against publicly releasing these new features, though, if internal strategy or external testing turns against them.
But at the end of the day, users will be the deciding factor.
